Calling All Bronies!

And Pokemon fans too, but I don’t have a fun word for that. Pokefans?

If either of these fandoms appeal to you, you should definitely check out Piemaster128’s accounts on DeviantART and Fimfiction.net!

On Fimfiction, he is currently balancing 3 ongoing sagas: a post-apocalyptic AU of survival and rebellion (turn off your filters for that one), an AU where a mysterious suitor whisks Twilight Sparkle away to a hidden island where she uncovers secrets about her life, and a collection of short stories featuring important moments in the lives of Twilight and Flash Sentry.

His DA account is a little different in the fact that his Pokemon story actually features a cast of original characters, but their quest brings them into contact with canon characters from the universe, such as the Legendary Trio.

Though ‘A Riolu’s Story’ has been dormant for a while, the entire first arc (30+ chapters) is online, as are side stories and an epilogue.

I’ve worked with Piemaster for several years. I started as an editor of sorts to double-check his spelling and grammar, and as I got more familiar with his style, genre, and the characters he used, I started to ask more questions about what he was writing next and offered a couple of ideas if he needed some inspiration.

Working with him helped me realize that authors who have very different writing styles can still work together and help each other.

Here are some of his works’ best features (in my opinion, of course), just in case you’re curious:

  • He’s a fast writer, so there’s plenty to read!

  • Plot-driven – lots of action, dialogue, and battle scenes (especially in ‘A Riolu’s Story’)

  • Complex sagas to keep you curious and engaged

  • Unique plot twists and narrative devices

  • LOTS of silliness – even his darkest pieces have a lot of humor to balance out the tones

  • Well-characterized, likable original characters

  • Smooth blending of tones – his forte is romance, slice-of-life, and, of course, humor, but he can add in horror and drama when the story calls for it, and he is no slouch.

  • Respectful of canon characters and universes

  • Realistic relationship portrayal – a little picture-perfect at times, but the connection the characters share is very real

  • Strong, well-rounded depiction of minor characters – especially for Flash Sentry. Flash’s sassy, sometimes deadpan, sometimes cheesy narration is a big hit for other readers on Fimfiction

Do yourself a favor and check him out if you’ve got the time! I have a feeling you’ll find something you’ll really love.
